Privacy Policy
In one paragraph: the extension runs on the page you choose to inspect and keeps your work on your own computer. Nothing leaves your machine unless you sign in with Google, and then only your own notes, style edits and saved handoffs are synced to your account so you can pick them up elsewhere. The extension never modifies the website itself, never sends page content to us, has no analytics, and never sells or shares data with anyone.
What the extension does
Pixel Poke lets you select an element on any website, adjust its design visually in your current tab, check accessibility, leave notes, and copy the result out as CSS or written handoff instructions. Changes exist only in your browser tab; reloading the page restores it. No website files are read or written, and nothing is installed into the site.
Two modes: local and cloud
When you first open the settings page you are asked whether to keep your work local or sign in. Until you choose, and whenever you choose local, the extension makes no network requests of its own and stores everything in Chrome's extension storage on your device.
If you choose cloud and sign in with Google, the items listed below are mirrored to your account so a second computer or a reinstalled browser can pick them up. You can sign out at any time from the extension's settings page; new work then stays local.

Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage) under an identifier tied to your account. Access rules restrict every workspace to its owner and to the people the owner has explicitly invited to a specific page.
What we do not collect
- No analytics, tracking pixels, or usage telemetry.
- No browsing history. The extension only acts on a tab when you turn it on there.
- No page content is sent anywhere. The only page-related data that leaves your device is what you yourself create: notes, changed style values, and a screenshot you chose to save with a handoff.
- No passwords, form entries, or keystrokes on the sites you visit.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of personal data with third parties. Data is never used for advertising.
Sharing a page
If you invite someone to a page or create a review link, the invited people can see the notes and edits on that page, along with your name and email as the workspace owner, and you can see theirs. Invitations and links can be revoked at any time from the Share panel. Nobody can list or discover a workspace without a direct invitation.
Permissions the extension asks for
- Active tab — when you click the toolbar button, the popup, or press the keyboard shortcut, Chrome gives the extension access to that one tab so the inspector can run there and preview your edits in place. It has no access to any other tab or site.
- Scripting and tabs — to load the inspector into the tab you chose, keep the toolbar badge in sync, and take a screenshot of that tab when you save a handoff.
- Storage — to keep your notes, edits, handoffs and settings on your device.
- Identity — to let you optionally sign in with the Google account already in Chrome. No password is ever handled by the extension.
- Optional site access — two settings act without a click and ask Chrome for extra access only when you turn them on: Start automatically on this site asks for that one site, and Relax strict sites (which removes the headers that stop some pages from being previewed at device sizes) asks for all sites. Declining leaves the setting off. Neither reads or alters your traffic.
Google user data
The extension's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The Google profile data received (name, email, photo) is used only to identify your workspace and display you to collaborators, and is never transferred to others except as needed to provide that feature, or used for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Local data stays on your device until you delete it in the extension or uninstall the extension. Cloud data stays in your workspace until you delete it. To delete your whole workspace and account data, email us at the address below from your Google account address and we will remove it within 30 days.
Children
The extension is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will be updated and the new version published at this address.
